Function strcspn in C programming

September 14, 2013 Posted by: GPA Views: 638 0 comments

Problem

Write simple program using strcspn() in C programming.

Solution

In this article, you will get the information about the strcspn() function of header file <string.h>.

Declaration:

size_t strcspn( const char * firstString , const char * secondString);

Function strcspn find the length of the part of firstString that does not contain any characters from the secondString. The function returns the length of the segment.

Example:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>//include this header file for function strcspn
int main(int argc, char *argv[]){
char firstString[50];
char secondString[50];
printf("globalproganswer.com\n");
printf("Enter first string: ");//promt user to enter some string
gets(firstString);//read string from keyboard
printf("Enter second string: ");//promt user to enter some string
gets(secondString);//read string from keyboard
//call function strcspn
printf("The length of the part of first String containing no characters \nfrom second String is: %u",strcspn(firstString,secondString ));
printf("\n");//new line
system("PAUSE"); //delay
return 0;
}

Output

Function strcspn
