C library function - ispunct()

September 7, 2013 Posted by: GPA Views: 1161 0 comments

Problem

C library function - ispunct(). Write simple application using this function.

Solution

This function checks if a character can be displayed on the screen (including the space character). You should include <ctype.h> library.

Declaration:

int ispunct(int value);

where value is the character to be checked.

It returns 1 (true) value if value is a printing character other than a space, a digit, or a letter and returns 0 (flase) otherwise.

Example:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
  char value;
  printf("globalproganswer.com\n");
  printf("Enter some value: ");//promt user to enter some value
  scanf("%c",&value);//read from keyboard
  //call function ispunct
  if(ispunct(value)) {
   printf("This value is punctuation character\n");
} else {
  printf("This value is not punctuation character\n");
  }
  system("PAUSE");//delay
  return 0;
}

Output

C library function - ispunct
