Problem

C library function - isdigit(). Write simple application using this function.

Solution

This function checks if the passed character is a decimal digit character (0–9). For using this function you must include <ctype.h> library.

Declaration:

int isdigit(int value);

where value is the character to be checked.

This function returns 1 (true), if input value is a digit and 0 (false) otherwise.

Example:

#include
<stdio.h>
#include <ctype.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
     int value1;
     printf("Enter some value: ");//promt user to enter some value
     scanf("%c",&value1);//read from keyboard
     //call function isdigit and show result
   if(isdigit(value1)) {
     printf("This value is a digit\n");
   } else {
 printf("This value is not a digit\n");
   }
system("PAUSE");
  return 0;
}

Output

c library function isdigit
